Citizen Kahn
Discover the man behind the Archives of the Planet: the first and richest collection of color photographs captured between 1909 and 1931, documenting the world’s diversity and portraying people and arts from around the World. Born in 1860, Albert Khan made a name for himself as a banker, philanthropist and pacifist. His life and vision reflect on the utopia and humanistic beliefs of the first half of the 20th Century. Sending photographers at the four corners of the world and providing Travel Scholarships to young Academics, Albert Khan’s project resulted in building a unique historical record. This priceless treasure has fuelled the imagination of generations of travellers and filmmakers with over 70,000 photographs and 100 hours of film collected over 22 years, now part of the Albert Khan Museum in Boulogne Billancourt on the outskirt of Paris.
